As part of the identity we developed for the Design Platform Rotterdam we are designing a series of essays (publications) which discuss design from broad perspectives.
Our work was featured in the Dutch Graphic Design Issue, #369, of the Korean magazine, Design.
Facing China was awarded a certificate of Typographic Excellence by the Type Directors Club and will be featured in their annual publication as well as the traveling exhibition.
We are happy to be contributors to Eye Magazine’s article ‘Who cares about graphic design history?’ from issue #68.
It has been a long time coming, and we are very happy to finally be in our new studio in the Schiecentrale building on the Rotterdam harbor.
We are honored to be included in ‘icons of graphic design’ by Steven Heller and Mirko Ilic.
5 pieces of our work were selected to be exhibited in the 23RD International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno 2008, from June 17th until October 19th, and chronicled the accompanying print catalog.

Typonine recently hosted us in beautiful Croatia to give a series of lectures for the University of Zagreb, UMAS plus two lectures and a workshop for Bruketa & Zinic.

We had the opportunity to work with a private collector of Contemporary Chinese Art, Fu Ruide, in the design, editing and publishing of an overview of his impressive collection.

Strange Attractors Design recently opened a new studio in Manhattan, NYC.
Diesel utilized an old visual trick to woo viewers during their Spring/Summer 08 catwalk show at the Pitti Immagine Uomo fair in Florence. Pepper’s Ghost is the parlor trick developed by Henry Dircks in 1862 and used in “The Haunted Man” (Charles Dickens).
Erik Kastner created Spell with flickr, an interesting script that takes text as input and searches flickr to return images of the letters contained in the word(s). I haven’t been in need of any ransom note type lately, but it’s still a fun tool to play around with.
Bob Noorda, one of Europe’s great modernists, gave a short lecture and interview at the invitation of Premsela, Museum de Beyerd and the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO). He discussed his work including design for Agip, Pirelli, Unimark, the Milan & NYC Subway signage (with Massimo Vignelli). This coincides with a small publication on Noorda from the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO) which was mailed to members.
Strange Attractors Design has been selected as 1 of the 14 nominees for the Rotterdam Design Prize, the most prestigious design award in The Netherlands.
We worked with Museum Boijmans to re-install BIG TYPE SAYS MORE, our 50 sq. meter typographic installation alongside a selection of our work from the past 2 years.

We have been working for a long while on a proper way to present a large amount of our work on the web. Our own studio site is often the last thing we want to think about (making new work always trumps documenting past projects).
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen just had a great exhibition on Kurt Schwitters. It presented a large amount of his work along with work from many other notable artists and designers from the time.
There are 2 great books on Jan Tschichold that have recently been released.
